Written by Kuzneski Editors | August 3, 2016

Late last year, Congress announced that federal agencies must establish rules to increase their monetary penalties to adjust for inflation.

On July 1 of this year, the Department of Labor published adjustments through the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Catch-Up Adjustments which covers most of the penalties handled through the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP), and Wage and Hour Division (WHD).

Another rule released, the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Labor Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Catch-Up Adjustments for the H-2B Temporary Non-agricultural Worker Program covers penalties associated with H-2B temporary guest workers.

For more information on the rates, please the Department of Labor’s website.
